The five limbs of the Panchang
- Vara — the weekday, ruled by one of the seven visible grahas.
- Tithi — the lunar day: each 12° of separation between Moon and Sun. There are 30 Tithis across Shukla and Krishna Paksha.
- Nakshatra — the lunar mansion the Moon occupies, one of 27.
- Yoga — one of 27 combinations of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes.
- Karana — half a Tithi; 11 Karanas cycle through the month.
Rahu Kaal and auspicious windows
Rahu Kaal is a roughly 90-minute window each day traditionally avoided for starting new work. Its position depends on the weekday and on local sunrise and sunset, so it shifts slightly by city and season. For a precise, location-specific window together with Gulika Kaal, Abhijit Muhurta and Choghadiya, use the Muhurat finder.
Your birth Panchang
The Panchang at the moment you were born — your Janma Vara, Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana — is part of your Kundli and appears on your dashboard and in your Kundli report.
